DeSantis trolls Biden by signing medical freedom bills in Brandon, Florida

BRANDON, Fla. —Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law four bills that aim to limit vaccine mandates for businesses and schools on Thursday.

DeSantis spoke at a news conference in Brandon at a Brandon Honda car dealership alongside Florida Speaker Chris Sprowls and Senate President Wilton Simpson.

The “pro-freedom, anti-mandate” legislation will prevent private businesses from having vaccine mandates unless they allow workers to opt out. Employees can opt out due to medical reasons, religious beliefs, immunity based on a previous infection, regular testing or an agreement to wear protective gear.

Let’s go Brandon” became the polite way to say “F**k Joe Biden” after an ESPN commentator interpreted NASCAR fans chanting the latter as the former.

“Nobody should lose their job because of these COVID jabs,” DeSantis said.

The legislation also prevents schools from requiring students to be vaccinated. School districts are banned from imposing face mask policies and they can’t quarantine healthy students.

“We are respecting people’s individual freedoms in this state,” DeSantis said. “We’re proud of standing up for people’s rights.”

The move makes Florida the first state to fine businesses over vaccine mandates.

Floridians who choose not to get vaccinated are protected against COVID-19 vaccine mandates under the new laws. Employers who impose such a mandate will be fined. Small businesses will face $10,000 per employee violation, while medium and big businesses will face $50,000 per employee violation.
